Writer and poet
Dermot Healy passed away on June 29th. The author of numerous plays, four collections of poetry, a short story collection, four novels and a memoir The Bend for Home, Healy was elected to
Aosdána in 1986.
Seamus Heaney called Healy "the heir to Patrick Kavanagh" and Pat McCabe described
The Bend for Home, published in 1996, as “probably the finest memoir… written in Ireland in the last 50 years".
