The International Day on Biological Diversity (IDB) takes place on 22nd May 2009 and this year’s theme is invasive alien species. The purpose of the day is to highlight the fact that invasive alien species represent one of the greatest threats to biodiversity, and to the ecological and economic well-being of society and the planet.
