"Brilliant" Saint Patrick’s Day

Brilliant by Roddy DoyleA short story entitled "Brilliant" by Roddy Doyle provided the theme for this year’s Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin. The story was commissioned in honour of Dublin’s designation as UNESCO City of Literature. Ireland’s leading pageant companies interpreted different chapters of the story using their own inimitable style. In the story a black dog of depression has settled over Dublin and stolen its funny bone. A gang of children take off in pursuit, chasing the dog from suburban gardens through the city center to the zoo and back to the sea. The funny, uplifting story can be downloaded from http://www.stpatricksfestival.ie/downloads/brilliant.pdf
