The library’s most popular films in 2013

Almost 30,000 films on DVD were borrowed from Clare County Library in 2013. Film adaptations of books accounted for some the most popular films loaned to adult members. The film versions of the three books in Steig Larsson’s Millennium series dominated the top 10 most popular film list. Slumdog Millionaire, which has remained very popular among library members since its release in 2009, is an adaptation of the book Q & A by Vikas Swarup. The French film Wild Grass (Les Herbes Folles) is also based on a novel – L’Incident by Christian Gailly. True Grit by the Coen Brothers is the second adaptation of the novel of the same name by Charles Portis - the 1969 version starred John Wayne. Other films popular with adult library members during 2013 were The King’s Speech, The Social Network, Black Swan and Clint Eastwood’s The Changeling.
