The Story of Iona - Book Launch at Shannon Library

On Tuesday, 17th December at 6.30pm Seán Lemass Public Library, Shannon, was delighted to welcome author Dr. Rosemary Power to launch her new book ‘The Story of Iona’. Published by Canterbury Press, Dr. Power’s book tells the story of the small Hebridean island of Iona and its remarkable spiritual influence over fifteen centuries. Dr Rosemary Power is a historian specialising in Norse and Gaelic studies. She is associate researcher of the National University of Ireland, Galway, and has published academically on Iona. Dr. Patrick Wallace, former director of the National Museum of Ireland was on hand at the event to launch ‘The Story of Iona’. Entertainment on the night was provided by harper Janet Harbison of the Irish Harp Centre.
