6,000th photo added to Graveyard Inscriptions Collection in Foto
The 6,000th photograph was added to the Graveyard Inscriptions Collection in Foto, our online photographic database, this week with the uploading of Bunratty Graveyard, donated by the Clare Roots Society. Headstone inscriptions are a very useful tool for genealogists, listing names, dates of birth and death, relationships between family members and place of residence. Several generations can be listed on a single headstone. By its nature, this information can be difficult for people to access. There are now photographs with transcriptions of 47 Clare graveyards in Foto. The text of the transcriptions can be searched for surnames, placenames etc. The transcriptions for each graveyard can be read as a whole in our Donated Materials Section . This section also includes transcriptions of graveyards without photographs, bringing the total numbers of graveyards covered to 125. All these transcriptions and photographs have been donated by individuals, historical and genealogical societies and community groups. Thank you all.
