John Spillane sings 'Killaloe' on TG4

John Spillane sings 'Killaloe', his own composition, on his TG4 TV series 'Spillane an Fanaí' (Spillane the Wanderer) on the 18th of November 2014.

"Wandering Minstrel, Roving Bard that I am, around Ireland meeting people and writing songs, there was no shortage of inspiration in this most beautiful town on the Shannon [Killaloe], at the mouth of LOUGH DERG, The Red Lough. The area is full of wildlife, water and woodland, folklore and poetry, music and song.

There was a king in Ireland,
His name was Brian Ború,
He built a golden palace,
In the town of Killaloe,
I've seen it in the sunset,
The ship of vanished dreams,
All the bridges burning,
Along the Shannon streams,
The raven from the mountain,
The blackbird and the dove,
Meet me by the river,
Be my river love!"
