Meeting once a month in
Newmarket on Fergus Public Library, the bookclub is an ideal opportunity for people in the area to get together as a group to talk about the enjoyment to be had from books and reading. An average of 8 to 10 people attend to discuss newly discovered authors or to recommend some age-old favourites to the group. Pauline Whelan, Senior Library Assistant at the branch, sees the two-way merits of organising the meetings: book club members are introduced to a wider variety of reading material, while library staff get to know the reading choices of their patrons. New members welcome. For information on a book club near you see
our list of library bookclubs.
