Scariff Adult Literacy Group - “Six Books Challenge” presentations in Scariff Library
Students from Scariff Adult Literacy Group were presented with certificates of achievement at Scariff Public Library on 14th May to mark their completion of the “Six Books Challenge”. County Librarian Helen Walsh and Senior Executive Librarian Carrie Stafford kindly attended the event to mark the occasion. The challenge, designed by The Reading Agency, ran over a six month period at Scariff Library under the direction of library staff member Aileen McDonagh, VEC coordianter Mary Mullane, and the support of a number of representatives from the Brothers of Charity. Students were encouraged to read six pieces of literary material over the given period ranging from books to magazines, newspapers, poetry and audio material. All students were delighted and deservedly proud to receive their certificates after several months of hard work.
